Hi Guys,

I have a second Range Rover (4.6 HSE 1996) that i use predomiantely as my workhorse and whilst the leather and main hedling is in very good condition, the front a/b pillars are looking a bit tired and grubby. The near side a pillar fabric is the worst has actually started to disintegrate a bit.

I have spoken to a few shops such as Rimmers and also contemplated breakers and ebay but, unfortuantely, to no avail. I then thought that, if easily removed, they could be maybe cleaned up and recovered in, if not exactly the same, at least a similair colour ???

Does anyone have any experience of this or any suggestions i should consider. Additionally if anyone knows of anyone that may have some, the interior is Grey leather then please let me know.

Thanks in anticiptaion

P.S I'm New to the site and loving all the helpful info i have managed to find so 'HELLO' and thanks to you all.

P.P.S To those RR haters I have come across while perusing this site, and please note i now have two of them (named Bruce & Alfred by the other half) , they may have there little.....(and sometimes slightly bigger).........problems but nothing beats them. They are both in the top of my list for cars i have owned and driven (quite a few !!) and I can not imagine a time when I will not have at least one in the Garage.

You can remove the worn "fuzz" on the pillars by taking them off and giving them a rub with a cloth/brush soaked in thinners - this removes the all of the fabric and glue underneath leaving a rather natty smooth plastic finish
I have just left mine bare as I quite like the finish cos it's easy to wipe clean but I suppose it could be recovered if you so wish

Oh, and hello !

Thanks for the quick response, I must say that an 'easy wipe' clean finish does sound appealing. Isnt that why we all enjoy leather interiors !!!:D

I have also found a couple of local companies that supply automative fabrics so, depending on how confident i feel, i may have a go at retrimming them. If i screw it up on the first attempt I can always go through the process of your initial suggestion again !

Thanks again

Did the same myself, its really quite easy. Just get the fabric of your choosing, a bit of spray-on adhesive, remove the trims from the vehicle and put the three together.
