Wow ! great i'm clued up now ! got the freelander up for sale now so hopefully if sold in the next few weeks i'm on the hunt for a P38.

one last question, ok with air suspension test, aircon test all directional vents, electrics, gear changes and autobox kickdown test etc.., but is there any way to check/test the engine for a liner problem ? as this seems to be in alot of the ad's i.e new lumps or liner fixed ?

i'm after a nice one with FSH and under 120,000miles but the liners seem to be an issue on a lot of the ad's i've seen so far ?

i'm fixed on the 4.6 now ! i remember years ago having a 2.8inj capri and being blown away by a Vogue and could not believe how quick it was ?

But also to note, TAX. If you get a pre March 2001 With LPG, car tax is cheaper. If you live near and around London, you dont pay Congestion Charge. And you not allowed on the Channel Tunnel saving you money by going the old fashioned way :)

The tax is cheaper on POST Mar 2001 not Pre as stated, when they started to use emmisions to calculate the road tax. LPG cleaner so less tax.

"right" sold the Freelander ! only put it on ebay saturday !

so Range rover here i come ! do you know of a nice LPG one for sale ?

to nfn your question about porous block there is a test were you put a die in the water and it either can be seen visiualy or picked up on an emissions test out of the exhaust dont know how it works if the ad says liners replaced make sure they are what is known as top hat liners watch for other leaks as a leak may occour in cabin this will problably be the o rings by the heater matrix if the expansion tank cap is slightly loose it is a good that the water system is pressurising

Hi, as the ebay listings have ended they will not load ?

I have seen two so far (should be veiwing another sat)

the first 4.6hse LPG 96 looked great and was in good nick but air bags cracked, misfire from idle ! and at the front of the engine at bottom dripping oil across the roll bar ! but he siad it was "Mint"

the second lenthly phone call before veiw to gain cond ! and he had spent a lot on the air suspension, but again the blend motor was gone (and been told its a good 4-5 hurs to replace) so was showing the logbook symbol and again oil leak from the same place

both had oil leaks ?? is this no no ? as been told its oil pump seal and again big job !

both looked good with no rust etc.. but had oil leaks

Getting a bit ****ed off with them saying its "mint" and then finding faults i could traveling all over the place at this rate !

still searching tho !

Hi All

Sorry to hijack the thread.

I'm a newbie member but have been reading the forums here for a few weeks. I'm on the verge of buying a 4.0 P38. I'm looking for advice on who can carry out the LPG conversion in Scotland? I have seen kits for sale online are they worth considering and can anyone with a good mechanical knowledge carry out the work?

Thank you in advance )

Well folks i really really wanted to be part of the Range rover club !

but after travelling 560 miles in one week and veiwing 6 range rovers and being told this and that has been done and its as good as it gets for this year ! (96-98's)

all of them were ****e ! maybe i'm expecting to much ? but oil leaks, trim issues, air bags cracked , rust (on tailgate)

comprehensive service histroy ? well why is it ****ing oil out ? the air con does not work ? and the front bags look like there going to blow at any minute ? but the 20inch supercharger wheels look good !

your eyes have to be wide open to FSH ! when in fact its stamps from a service centre that would have only changed the oil and filter !

if i had tons of time to keep looking then maybe there's a good un out there ? but been having to drop the wife to work while we only have one car ! and well 560 miles looking at cars wears you down ! and costs to much in fuel.

purchased tonite a 2003 specail edition Freelander TD4 full leather/ alcantra trim/17 inch alloys FLRSH ! and not a mark on it ! and goes really well as had the chip upgrade.

its been good to chat with you all and the advice really really helpful , i'm just ****ed off that the right car was not for sale when i needed to buy !
