p38 2.5DT Wire found cut to ECM Connector ?

OK usual problem my heater matrix "O" Rings are leaking, upon removing the under dash cover i found a pair of wire that wher just hanging loose - traced these back to the ECM connector and these where spliced to the blue/white cable that goes to the connector...!!!??? My car runs fine but the blue/white wire that goes to the ecm doesn't connect to the ecm due to the two wires spliced between.

Does anyone know what this does or why a previous owner may have done this? Although my car runs fine I'm going to reconnect these but just wondered why this has been done..

Which connector did you trace these back to?? Which ECM/ECU are you talking about??

Hi, yes it's the ECU next to the Battery.

You really need to get hold of the ETM (electronic troubleshooting manual) that comes with RAVE. This will allow you to figure out what the wire does and where it goes. Ive just had a look at it and the connector for the ECM is shown as C572.

It would help a bit if you knew which pin on the connector the wire went to.
