@tyke100 I had the same problem with the fans took the HEVAC out cleaned it up and no luck. Blowers worked in a direct supply. Took the plunge got a 2nd hand HEVAC unit and problem solved. Must be something in HEVAC circuit board in end just as easy to replace the unit. Me and my brother spent a long time checking all the circuits. Don't think 2nd hand HEVAC was that expensive.

could i swap the electronic one for a manuel one if i find one? maybe from and earlier lower spec model?

@tyke100 another option is the dial for the fan speed has an issue on contact with the circuit board maybe take it apart and clean it up might work. When you turn the dial it shows the fan speed but no blower. Mine is 1995 and urs is 1996 it you said so you might have the original HEVAC sounds like got same issue I had. Let me know how you get on. I know a chap in Wales who ships parts out next day. PM me if you want his details?

yes please/ now i have the problem of the keyfob ( and immense amount spending solved for now ) i can focus on stuff i needed in the first place. lol

i did expect i may need a new unit and dealed the sales price down for it. so im not bothered if it comes not to expensive along.
i seen one for 45 on fleebay but rather buy it from someone recommend and known for good srtbove..

For the blower motors, check the relays in the underbonnet fuse box and also check for smells of burning. Fuse box failure is another common problem.
You cannot have aircon with the manual HEVAC, it still relies n the blend motors for air distribution/heat control which are the bits that go wrong, the HEVAC itself is pretty reliable.

Thank you everyone for the patience and help.
the key - we got it working now.

and just been told i get a new one for x mas. lol. she get one. ha ha.

the blowers working too.
hevac was fine. blowed the bulb i replaced once was blowing again, but working now fully.
the fault was the driverside blower motor in case anyone has the same problem.
the red wire looked like burned out.
but we replaced the plug, cleaned the motors ad all working.
just tried it and again, didnt come on. light tab on the driverside blower motor and both blowers worked again. so it must be switched from hevac to driver side then passenger side blower.

so i just trying to source a working one to avoid further trouble with that one.

but .. Thank you again for the hints and help Guys.

im sure due time i come along with more stupid questions.
i just have to learn having patience. lol not my strong point.

Plenty of HEVAC's available from breakers, early and late ones are different with regards to aircon operation.

yes. apparently is about the number in the back.
of its me i would exchange that thing for a manuel dial one. lol.
apparently dosnt work like that. lol.

so i stick with it. lol.

The manual dial one is not much different inside to your one, the HEVAC is pretty reliable apart from the rotary switch which may need the contacts cleaned. I have both types on the shelf.

The latest one operates the compressor clutch via a relay, I did not think it had the drive capability to drive the compressor clutch direct as was the case with the early type?
It does, I have one on mine with no relay 3 has worked fine with no problems.

I would recommend MrSporty on here for keys. He sprinkled some kind of magic powder on mine and they work a treat now
