thankyou to all for the help, but the only way was to make a finer point to help locate the hole on the airbag,i am not sure about the plastic airbags tho, they don't seem up to the job.
only time will tell i spose,i should think that you guys have been there done that, and there are mixed views.

Plastic airbags????? The end caps may be plastic but not the bags and they seem to be well up to the job.

Exactly!
What people forget is that the whole suspension on the P38 is designed around the airbags. If you change them to coil springs, then the ride is sh*t and is isn't very stable either, be warned.
If you take the time and trouble to understand how the air suspension works and also are prepared to do a bit of work on it, like renew the airbags and do a full 'O' ring change (£28) on the valve block plus of course renew the PTFE ring in the pump, you will have a good few years solid service, with suspension that goes up and down to suit your needs.
Only on the Disco3 and 4 is the suspension so mobile.
It was very advanced for it's day, but when you consider that most buses and lorries run every day using air suspension it is very normal now!
