I have just bought a disco as above and checking it out it said it was imported in 05 but I dont know from were, there isn't an alarm in it so I thought it may have come from Japan its a GS I think can any one tell me the spec for such a car, the body work is in very good condition and has only done 120000 miles.

Mileage is irrelevant on a vehicle this age, when was the timing belt done? Has the pump been 'tooned'? Is the bodywork really that good? Really? Have you checked the sills behind thd plastic covers? Upper foot wells (where the inner wings meet) are rot prone, obviously boot floor. GS is fairly basic.

I must disagree with you regarding the mileage on a Disco that is what regulates the price, they are on the net as per the mileage there are some with 200,000mls for £1000, and some with 90,000 mls going for £3500 about the same age my new one has 12 months MOT and I have had it inspected by my best mate who is a Mot tester, and its solid.

I would think over there in the UK as applies here for a Disco 1, the body corrosion situation would dictate the going price, a low milage Disco with a body full of rot is of no real use except for parts/scrap. In our part of the world we have some extremely high mileage vehicles with good rust free bodies, usually in many the interiors are stuffed from excess sunlight and lots of dust, but if you have one with little or no body cancer it is relatively easy to repair the mechanical problems and there are an abundance of used and new replacement bits. A good sound body will mean the difference between getting $500 or $5000 for a 1998 300Tdi.

Disagree all you like, my first disco was an absolute shed in every way imaginable and an import to boot, with only 130k. My current disco is 10 times better, 180k, full service history, higher spec. Worth more. Considering mileage on a 20+ year old car to determine price is silly. Anybody selling a disco 300tdi for 3500 is having a laugh. It needs to be box fresh to ask that.
