has anyone used owen springs? they are local to me so i was considering getting some rear parabolics off them

just wondered if anyone had any reviews/feedback?

Those that feel inclined to go the para route tend to favour GB springs. I am happy with well greased and used standard jobbies.

yes ive searched on here and GB springs definitely look favourite - i was only thinking of owen springs as they are local, just in case i had any issues and of course supporting local industry :)

i didnt know even if they manufacture for other company's may be even GB springs???

They are prob very good being British and they do a good range....could do with some posts from somebody who has used them...

I am also a GB Springs user...although they where called British Springs when I bought mine 10 years ago...still just as good now as the day I fitted them...never sagged.

Nick.

how much is a set of GB springs? is it best to buy direct from them?

i'm after rears for a S3 109"

I can't remember what I paid now, but, from memory they were about the same as the cost of britpart ones from Paddocks - and GB Springs provide all the U-bolts you need.

Give him a call - they're very helpful and will tell you the exact, current price :)

i will - i emailed both owen springs and GB springs yesterday :)

i'll proberbly end up going for GB rather than taking a risk on owens - at least they are both UK manufactured.

i'm not in a mad rush as ive plenty to do to get mine on the road before i need springs -it'd be just my luck for a 2nd hand pair to turn up after i've shelled out for a new set :)

second hand springs are always a big unknown, if you can afford it new is always the best option :)

Just avoid the blue boxes on your restoration :D

got a reply from GB springs :)
We supply Parabolic springs for a Series 3 LWB Land Rover as a complete set the cost would be £335.00 including VAT and Delivery to England and Wales but as a split set the prices are given below:-

Front Parabolic springs only - £ 145.00 for a 2 leaf set including delivery VAT, bushes and “U” bolts;
Rear Parabolic springs only - £ 220.00 for a 3 leaf set including delivery VAT, bushes and “U” bolts

Additional costs are due to 2 sets of transport

The load capacity for the two leaf fronts is 930kg per axle and for our four leaf rears is 1620kgs per axle. In our experience with a standard set up these springs should not raise the vehicle more than 1" at most. Please look at our website to see the spring ends. Our springs are painted blue. We also have available a 3 leaf front spring which offers a 24% strength increase and a 5 leaf rear spring which can offer a 20% strength increase on the rear of the vehicle at a cost of £400. Please contact us to discuss (Tel : 01214271314).

The kit includes the springs (handed and clearly marked Off side and Near side), "U" bolts, nuts and rubber to metal bonded bushes.

Regards

whats the spec on that one dr e. ? are they 33"s ?

Longer shackles....why is that for the tyres to clear the upper wheel arch tub???
yeah i did wonder?
but if you adjust the shackles would you have to wedge the axle seat on the spring to keep the diff angle right?:confused:

i'm new to all this landrover stuff:D:D

35/12.5/15 with paras, small block chevy up front weighing them down and military shackles.

I'll be fitting 1 tonne springs to it and taking off the front paras when the big block goes in as it'll weigh another 50kg on top of whats currently in there

Are 33" much bigger than say 205x16 tyres....I dont think the paras by themselves will give much advantage...I run 205x16 and Brit springs...same a GB,

Let me know if you want a measurement from mine.

whats the difference in the military shackles then? i take it they give a bit more lift?

mine at the moment has got a 6 cylinder in but i plan to fit a 200/300tdi - do you know if there will be much weight difference?
