good day;
upon doing my regular maintenance in the engine bay,guess what i have discovered.
although i know that the battery installed on the truck was bigger in size than it must be,thus the cables were streched to the maximum,i have discovered that the mechanic who installed the bat did a big mistake...(he is a bmw mechanic),he removed the ground from the bolt behind the ecm and placed it along with the metal thing attached to the neg cable of the bat on the screw which fixes the imobilizer sounder to the body :eek::doh:
i was stretching my brains out to find out y i have a ground problem,and as u know the sounder chassis is painted and so is the body under it :doh::doh:.now what can i do?should i :croc: the mechanic??????? i have paid 100$ for this 88 amps batt.i took it to a land rover specialist and he looked at it then laughed then he :doh: his face.
he said i must replace the bat and put a 100 amps batt that contains powder not water and acid,it is the correct size for the p38,i asked him y 100 amps,it must be 72 amps according to the manual,then he looked at me with one eye closed and answered "i have been a land rover mechaninc for 20 years,and for the p38 i am using since 15 years 100amps batt and no body asked y"???? .iF u go to the specialist they will fook you,u go to a friend mechanic not specialist in land rover he will fook you then after he is done fooking u,u will go back to the specialist again so he will fook u again.
now if i must do my homework properly i must replace the batt,or find onother way to put an extra ground,and i doubt that in the inspection (MOT) it will pass.
my question is the following:
if i keep things as they r,is it a good call?my batt is 2 months old :eek:
word of advice:

ALWAYS GO TO A LAND ROVER SPECIALIST
ALWAYS OPEN LANDYZONE AND READ THREADS TILL U GO BLIND,THEN WALK AWAY FOR 15 MIN GET A TEA THEN READ THREADS AGAIN

I LOVE YOU LZ,I LOVE YOU GUYS,I AM GETTING NUTS WITH MY TRUCK :frusty::focus:

fit the correct battery as per the manual. then depending on the model of p38 you have, make sure you have the correct size alternator fitted which will probably be the 100 amp version.
