Hi, I seem to have a problem with my 1982 series 3.
I have replaced the waterpump, hoses, thermostat, sender unit and added an electric fan, but the temp guage still hovers close to the red zone, and the fan cuts in even after short (two to three mile) journeys.
Any advice would be appreciated, as I am becoming reluctant to use it for fear of doing some serious damage! Thanks.:(

sounds like another rad blocked?
also poss HG problem?

maybe a garage could measure the temp more accurately with a meter?
(the water temp maybe ok? a long shot i know).

Thanks, I've checked the rad and it is clear is it possible that the water pump is not pumping even though it is spinning/
Chubby

i have seen a pump impellor shear its shaft before now, but it made a hell of a whinning noise.

Also check your temp guage isn't faulty, mine used to do a similar thing and turned out it was summat to do with the earth wire on the back of the guage.
