Driving home from work on Monday the DSE went from normal to overheating almost immediately. Stopped and let it cool down then drove home in half mile jumps. Luckily I only had a couple of miles to go.

I was pretty sure it was the water pump as the overheating was so rapid. The benefit of doing Datatek's mod and removing the fan really paid off. Had the pump out in about 10 minutes and the cause was obvious, the plastic impellor had sheared off the shaft. Luckily it was still in one piece but there were a lot of cracks in it so it could have gone into lots of smaller bits.

I've tried to upload a picture but not sure if it will work.

Went for the OEM replacement and surprise, surprise it has a metal impellor!! All back together now, took quite a while to get all the air out of the system but took it for a run and seems fine. Fingers crossed.

To be fair to the car this is the only major problem I've had with it in 18 months but I do keep on top of the maintenance which I believe goes a long way to keeping it reliable.
