People must have been feeling tight if you only got just over £200 for yours, most working ones that i have seen over the past few months have gone for well over £250 but i suppose your location/collection options would make a difference.

Currently on ebay item number 260143589662 is allready over £200 and there's nearly a day left.

I've never had any issues getting spares for the ones that i have refurbished over the years - Winch Repairs could sell you allmost everything to build a new overdrive, apart from the main casing.

No, I bought mine fer that, not sold one! Wouldn't have paid more than that for one to be honest. Tends to go in phases mebbe as they were all around that at that time (a couple of months ago t'was).

Does anyone drive a series vehicle far enough to warrant the expense of an overdrive these days? - I love driving mine but i'd but been so keen to travel more than 50 miles in it.

Now seems to be a good time for selling as very recently ebay item 230155062561 sold for £300 and 260143589662 sold for £280.

back in March I took my 72 series 3 on 600 mile roundtrip over three days, if I was to spend £300 on improvements it would go on sound-proofing and more comfortable seats before an overdrive. High milage users may perhaps justify the cost, but how many series owners clock up a large annual milage or use them on Motorways out of interest?

Yip, I do 50+ miles a day, sometimes a lot more & love every mile of it. My O/D should pay for itself in about a year at this rate.

It's not just distance though is it. Reducing engine revs hence the deafening engine noise, increasing road speed on decent roads, it all makes a difference.

Did about 6000 miles in mine last year.

She hauls hay and drags timber in Glous, mows grass in Somerset, pulls my trailer wherever I need it, takes me on holiday......she's the only vehicle I've got cause she's the only vehicle I need.

What gearbox have you got if you can only get 12 forward gears using O/d and HI/LO ? Mine has 16 forward and four reverse!
