just wonted to now how much fuel a over drive will save me are thay worth the money ???thanks all

just for the comfort value they are worth it, i have a superwinch overdrive on my s3 109 and long journeys are so much better because of it, i recently drove from chelmsford essex to gt yarmouth and it only used just under half a tank of diesel which i think is quite good as my old escort used to use nearly that for the same journey

My 88" with a 3.5 V8 in it now cruises at 70mph @ 2400rpm. Before I fitted a Fairey O/D it was 3000rpm @ 70. It gives me an extra 2mpg. Doesn't sound a lot, but with my mileage it'll pay for itself in a year.

Additionally, it does reduce the cab noise a little, not much to be honest & if you're running a standard doosul you'll probably use up the extra revs getting a little more speed. A petroil would probably benefit a shade more I reckon given the price of the stuff.

i have overdrive in my landy 88, i used half a tank on 100 miles, for the second part i used overdrive to see if it made a difference, it does, better fuel consumption.

2.3 i think

I go with the comfort bit - 50 mph with an overdrive is a lot less frenetic than 50 mph without one! Can't comment on fuel consumption - my 88 '' has a bit of a drink problem at the moment so cannot sensibly test it.
