Oh arse I'll have to stay in EU for another 14 years!
Yes that site is very useful when looking at a motor to buy, saved me last year. Also a good selling point to have a history of annual MOTs, whether you need one or not.
No No No, as a famous lady once said.Apologies if this has been mentioned before. UKGov has till April to decide how to implement. Discuss!
Im 100% happy that other peoples cars are checked annually for safety.
I mean, does your motor pass every time, without fail?
If the answer is "no" then that's an example of you missing something.
The classic status thing is two edged.
A way of separating old vehicles from the norm, then restricting their use due to alleged safety or environmental issues.
Of course a Clio is safer than a Mini or a Series 3, but if you want to drive a Mini or Landrover everyday it should be your choice. You keep the specialists in business, you keep specialist insurance companies happy, and you keep a bit of Britain going. Youngsters only see over polished old cars in rows at old fogeys shows otherwise.
I can see a time when all vehicles have pay as you drive black boxes. The European satellite thingy needs to get back some revenue after all!
Agreed 100%. I think the only caveat is that we, that is, the folk who run older vehicles need to make sure that the test remains fair to them - I am principally thinking of emissions tests. At the moment, they seem reasonable, but as others have touched on above, will the test be "reconfigured" to "give" us classic status in return for severe limitations on usage??..... At £56 for an annual ,professionally conducted safety check I fail to see the sense in this proposal
Jim.
