Freelander 1 Oval MAF (Can I replace Parts of it) ??

I bought a used MAF as I am trying to solve black smoke on acceleration and idle at 1250rpm.

Anyway, I saw One on ebay and bought it - It was advertised as a Mk1 Freelander MAF but it's Oval .. I assume its for the Petrol Engine?

Can I take the actual sensor apart and swap things around with the other one? obviously the connection is different so I cant just swap the whole sensor over

I would only ever use the right MAF because if you do not the MPG will suffer also you with get erratic running, before condemning the maf clen out the EGR, check the intercooler hoses for splits holes, you can purchase new maf but only ever buy a genuine Bosch one you can and we have used the insert one below with great results and they are cheaper than an whole unit,

BMW one but only use the insert mind these seem to have shot up in price as they used to be £72.00 only I wonder if they have realised that R75 and FL1 owners are using them ?

We have had a couple of these on trial for a year now on the R75 and the results are performing ok so far so another avenue you could try, but only do this in mind that they are aftermarket ones.

I disconnected my MAF today and my problems have gone, I am just a bit down on power now and have a little black smoke upon accelerating.

What do you make of these:

I find it crazy that they can offer this at those prices, I know the advice is to buy a genuine One but has anybody tried one of these?

I did buy the Cheap Chinese One as above and it is still gling strong I bought it just for the sake of testing it.. I was lucky maybe, but then again I was due some Luck.
