Guys & Gals,

Thanks for the info yesterday to all who welcomed me and and told me what to do .... here's the update AND MORE HELP PLEASE!

My OSR window jammed yesterday, Switch Ok, motor ok so I took the door Card off and cut through the plastic to discover:
That one of the white Plastic (wrapped with a spring) cable holders has split on the white plastic! See photos.
The wire cable doesn't appear to have snapped (not sure being honest) but wire cable is not in the black plastic guide locking block either - if that makes sense? (See photos)

What I am after is a view on how easy to fix?
What I need to order to fix?
Finally how much it would cost to fix if I went to a garage?

I was also thinking of taping it closed short term and using a support inside the door panel to keep it closed - so it is secure. Again any thoughts?

As I said in my post yesterday I am novice but willing to try if simple .... otherwise someone is going

Paul trying hard - not sure if it is working! the idiot!

Jam it closed with a block of wood only take some idiot to mess with tape and could result in broken window

Also using wood means from the out side it looks no different that a closed window

I agree with this.

You need either a repair kit ( fiddly and can be damn hard to get right) or a replacement regulator. Personally I use a repair kit but a lot of people don't get on with them.

I get my kits from eBay seller windowregshop. I have done 3 successfully from their kits. Two other suppliers kits were not very good. I am currently waiting for a door and a tailgate kit to turn up with the postie!

Just done my OSR, I bought the complete rear window regulator for £35 inc p&p from ebay. So much better then using a repair kit, takes about 30-45 mins from start to finish

HI Slimboy, can you tell me the ebayer seller you used - the item number would be great!

Also the year / model of your Freelander ..... just in case it makes a difference ....!!

Thanks again for info.

Paul

Hi Paul
e-bay seller is carspares-direct, have no idea what the item number is, the cost is £30.50 with free p&p Reference OE/OEM Number: CVH101202
I have 2003 53 plate 5 door Serengeti.
Hope this helps
George

Definitely replacement reg if you can find one but not planning to do the work yourself. They're more than a repair kit but half the time to fit so cheaper at the garage.

If you are doing it yourself then the repair kits are ok but the extra for the new reg is probably worth the skin you'll lose off your fingers with the repair kit.

I will be buying a Regulator tomorrow - once I have had it confirmed my garage will fit for me!!
