Anyone familiar with these type of plastic hatches?
Plan to use one for side rear arch access to my cabin heater.
Not sure what kind of plastic it is, wondered if anyone knew as would like to paint it, so need to chose the correct primer.

Cheers all.

There's a few primers specifically for use on car plastics to improve paint adhesion. Some are available in aerosols which would save you the bother of a spraygun.
The Glasurit one above is an ultraviolet lamp cured general primer filler which dries clear & the TDS sheets for it advise that on plastics it should be applied after their 1k Plastic adhesion promoter primer Glasurit 934-10-1k-plastics-primer.

U-Pol do 'Plast-X' in an aerosol

That said, these are intended for use on plastics used in cars so you might want to email Osculati for their advice.

Used these for side lockers on 2 Defenders now. Very good alternatives to the v expensive metal jobs. Used a plastic primer and cellulose topcoat. Some support underneath is needed for heavy load use.
You might want to think about how you mount the doors. I've found it best to put the locks at the top so the door opens downwards. The other way might seem better, but stuff can migrate inside the locker and jam the locks.

Great advise thanks. Mine is access to a cabin heater that's being mounted in an ali box that's getting fitted behind the rear wheel high up in the void.
