tyre on the hood will get you a commerical toll fee on toll roads

Driving with the wheel on the bonnet does restrict your vision, particularly of the corner of the n/s wing. Ever wondered why so many MOD landies have the customary dent on the front left corner?

Well I've been back and the landy has been steam cleaned. The paperwork has been dug out and it has come back from Iraq hence the slightly pink sand colour!

Lots to do including removing and emptying the fuel tank as it arrived minus a filler cap. Replacing the doors (which he has). Full service inc belts. Underbody wax oil. New floor. Sort out/replace dash, steering wheel, some of the lights, seats. Pull out the bonnet. Re-spray in standard dark green cam colours....... and more :D

circa £5000.

I'll get the full paperwork once it gets closer

I'll run it into next year then I want to get a doner discovery 300TDI (I've asked a question about that but no answers yet). I would like to fit the engine, power steering, possibly air con and boxes/axles if nec/best - I need advice on this bit though.

where in the north west, im in leeds, yer welcome to come look at mine, I have the spare on the bonnet.
Im 6ft, and a slight lean to the left I can see the front corner, thats with 235/85s on

sounds like alot of money. For a bit more you could buy 1 today and drive tomorrow in better shape with a 300tdi in it. You add this cost and then the cost of doing a 300tdi with a r380 tranmission conversion, I would be looking else where JMO

For 5-6 k you could be in a decent TD5

I'll have to have a look... Nothing is finalised at the moment. I have £4000 now but will have another £1500 by mid September. Most of the Land Rovers I have seen have been a lot more and as my NCD have lapsed due to using a lease hire car the insurance on anything newer than 1993 is a lot more too.

i did have the spare on the bonnet, but i took it off for 2 reasons.

1. makes the bonnet a nightmare to open, and with mine it fell shut nearly decapitating me
2 . without it the steering is slightly easier at low speeds

I now have the tyre strapped in the back :)

Well having listened to a certain persons comments on here :D ......

I've been having a look round and after spending most of the evening looking I quite fancy a 90 rather than a 110.......

AND I've found a 1995 Landrover 90 with 300TDI engine at £2990. The seat covers are knackered and I haven't looked under it etc but I'm looking at a 100 mile round trip tomorrow to go and see it.

So after all this I'm probably not going to get this one after all !

That Landrover has gone, sold yesterday! He has another at £3990 but he'll take £3600... Says it's just had the rear chassis repair section fitted and a new exhaust plus it's tidier all round but a year older. Sounds good, off to look at it.
