Orange hill decent, light

Hi all,
Still working thought the list of jobs on my Freelander and a orange light has started coming my on the look like the ‘hill decent’ logo.

it come on during driving with out any common cause.

the drive doesn’t seem to be affected and the light will reset if the car is restated.


I have recently removed the props and VCU and didn’t know if it might be related.

does any one know what the light might mean?

It's a fault light that probably means a broken wire somewhere. Around the gear stick is the usual cause however I had a similar fault and never got to the bottom of it. In the end I took the dash out and blanked off the light.
The dash has to get a certain CAN bus signal from the car to either put the light out with HDC off or make it a green flashing light with it on. If it doesn't get either signal it comes on Orange.

Thank you for your message I will have a look for some dodgy wiring, I have also filled with the Gear gator so could be related to that.
