Hi All,
As per the title, the OSR window failed halfway up at the weekend. There were a few weird noises just before failure - no grating, humming more like something I’d imagine if the wire has snapped and the motor is pulling it along. I’ve managed to get it all the way up and stay there. Between failing and pulling it back up I tried the switches (drivers door and OSR door) and could hear the click of a relay but couldn’t hear the motor. Looking at the cost of a new regulator from £30 odd off eBay to £90 from AF to £250 odd for a LR one from Rimmer, has anyone got any recommendations. I’m not going to try to repair it, a replacement regulator is what I’m going for.
Regards
M.

I recently fitted a cheap one on my daughter’s F1.
Easy job and works fine.

Ordered here;

As per above, finally got round to swapping the regulator. Motor dead in the water, not the original - from 2012.

Aaand all’s right with world again…

Well done.
I don't think it's common for the original motors to fail but I can't comment on after market ones. I guess someone must have replaced the regulator and motor at the same time in the past.
I have to admit I usually order a repair kit and regulator (without motor) at the same time and try to repair using the kit. That way I have a spare for when my dodgy repair fails in a few weeks. ☺️ I Also have a stock of motors in the garage loft.

Thanks to all who replied.

Ali, I thought for the relatively small amount extra for the full regulator over the repair kit it was worth it. Obviously, in my case I'd have to go motor hunting now. Every day’s a learning day…👍🏻
