So this is just to let people know about the optimill wing mirror arms with puddle lights built in. I purchased a pair at the LRO show, these are a very expensive item (£260 show price) but I figured, after buying a pair of standard arms and them trheading very quickly as the original ones had buying a high quality product would be the best way forward. Having spend an afternoon fitting them I was all set, the weekend just gone saw me having to travel down to Devon to see family, upon hitting over 70mph the passenger mirror folded itself in due to the air pressure on the arm and mirror head, shortly after this (having to speed up to be sure there was no one on the inside lane) the drivers side flapped in at around 80mph. Not great for such an expensive product. So, contacted the company and explained the issue in an email, the response was please return the item and we will look at it, the product cannot be tightened by the end user as a specialist tool is required to undertake this procedure.. Sorry for the inconvenience. I am guessing that they are not aware of consumer rights as there is a clear statement that of a product should fail within 1 month of purchase you are automatically entitled to a new item and not a repair to the existing. When I pointed this out they agreed to send out new when they have them is stock. (Could be as long as a week) so without any form of rear view mirror on Dirty Harriet I could not use her on the road leaving me without transport. So after some back and forth I gained the agreement that they would send out a new pair and I would return the old to the courier. Naturally this nw leaves me wondering what happens if the spring in the arm should weaken again after the years warranty has elapsed? Being what I believe is a design flaw and a tool to repair or adjust the arms is not commercially available I would asse that the manufacturer is liable for free repairs even after the products warranty has run out? Any help on this point is much appreciated. Thanks all

@Fabrob , whilst the billet/light type door mirrors look great, do as @frog hopper says. Original door mirrors work perfectly, nothing to go wrong and are low cost. I replaced mine earlier this year and bought with convex mirrors - they're excellent and give very clear wider angle rear viewing.

I've read of folk being busted for speeding after posting Youtube vids of themselves doing it, but does a confession on LZ count?
I don't recall "having to speed up to be sure there was no one on the inside lane" mitigation for exceeding the national speed limit.
Happy days ;)

Perhaps a video of them folding in at 80mph is required :D

I thought puddle lights were fitted to the bottom of the door?
It would be the safer option as the door should already be 'folded back' and shouldn't be affected by speeding over the limit...

80mph in a tratter and only the wing mirror fell oft. I'm calling bs.

No, they're not liable for life time repairs unless contracted to do so. The 1 year warranty is to assure you if they develop a fault during that time, they will resolve it. It's there to give confidence to the buyer.

YFO has never done 80 mph, but i did have the passenger side door top fall off at around 40 on the way to work one morning...
