Hi guys, back again I just fitted optimil door hinges and on my passenger door there is a obvious lack of paint where the old hinges used to go, as the new spacer blocks are smaller than the old, what do I do fit the old spacers or touch in the paint?

I think it would look best if you could carefully touch up the paint, if the paint finish was not going to be good however then you may have to go with the larger shims. Unfortunately I can see that there is a chance the final finish could look a little disappointing.
Had a re-spray been done with the hinges in situ?

I didn't have this problem with my Optimill hinges as I had previously had a full body-off respray done with every component stripped so it was virgin paint under the old hinges.

Hello, finished both doors today and thankfully where I touched the paint in you can’t see it anyway as the shims/hinges cover the touched in areas, I feel very relieved that was the case, love the hinges my doors close beautiful now and they were pretty straight forward to fit but i took my sweet ass time with it

I am considering these for my beloved Landrover for security reasons. Do they make the doors less nickable?

Don't see how the original hinges themselves aid theft protection but if you fit the door security plates, Optimill handles (which contain a real lock) and disconnect the pop-up latches then you have done as much as you can. That said, a pro could still probably pop the locks within seconds but hopefully it will deter the casual thief.

The new security hinges are a different animal however but as I have the old type fitted I can't comment.

Yes I would recommend, you can’t just unbolt the doors and be off with them (as quick) as the original hinges, one thing I don’t like so much are the gaskets which come with them, but I’ve forgotten about it for now.. also get some silent coat sound deadening whist the door cards are off also lots of new door card clips because they are more than likely to brake, some plastic trim removal tools are also a good investment
