Well my dumb ass sister put her cup of lemonade on the rubberised mat after we'd been to costco. It was one of those mac donald type cups with a plastic lid almost a liter of lemondade flew over the dash, right around the speedo and basically dripped everywhere.

Was ok when I stopped and cleared what I could up. When I got to her house I stopped the car to get the shopping out and when I got back in noticed the abs light wouldn't go off (normally goes off after 5mph) and then clocks had stopped working (Speedo and revs).

Could it just need drying out? Is the abs light linked to the speedo that is not working? Aside from cleaning the sticky stuff up I'm hoping it will be ok.

Oh and as I got home I put the rear window up and after about 1 minute I heard it drop - as if the rear door was opening. I couldn't open the rear door again until I put the key in and started the engine up again.

Anyway thats sorted but I am worried about the clocks and the abs light :( Brakes seem to be working ok.

open the windows a little and put a heater in the cab on low to help dry it out

Ok, had a good clean up now. Use a heat gun (carefully to help dry out arkward spots and speedo and ABS light is now working as it should. Now the rear window keeps going down on it's own. Only a tiny bit as the rear door keeps opening itself.

Humm seems to be cured now except for the rear window... I actually think it might be the lock mechanism having read around the forum. However, it's odd how it only started after the bloomin lemonade...

The problem is that it is lemonade....

My water bottle leaked one day when I left it in the dash cubbyhole, and it filtered down through the screwholes in the bottom and went all over the fuse box and CCU.
Indicators went to ****....windows stopped....wipers went spaztic....etc etc. I left a fan heater in the car and it dried out fine with no ill effects long term.
However, lemonade will leave a sticky residue when it dries, which may gum up relays and other components, and the sugars can attack circuit boards.

Might turn out ok. Might be buggered.

On the speedo front everything seems to be ok.

However, the tailgate central locking and window is doing my head in. Keeps unlocking itself and the window keeps going down on its own.

I am starting to see why freelanders have a bit of a rep. Seems like one thing after another - all fairly minor, but it is a good job I am fairly hands on with my cars.
