When i bought my 1999 Discovery 2 the rear airbags had already been removed in favour of the coil spring conversion, the compressor is still there although i doubt it will work after laying dormant for 5 odd years, would i be stupid to change back to the airbag system like im thinking of doing or is it just a waste of time and money ? my mates (yes i have one) disco 2 seems to ride better on the airbags than mine does on coils

discuss....:)

Try it and if you don't like it, change it back. It's not a difficult job to put the bags back on.

It's your money, at least you'll get a reasonable return selling the bags again.

I would .. I'd start with the compressor, make sure it's working before buying anything else, then you have a good measure of what the job will cost and entail. ;)

you may also need someone with a hawkeye/nanocom to tell the bcu its got air bags. may also need the ride height adjusters. i think.
i do find the air useful when carrying heavy loads,

ive just gone and checked and they are still on the vehicle, it honestly looks like all was left when the bags removed and the springs put on, will get my mate from serviceman who owns a P38 to plug his computer wizardrey in and reset it all when ive changed them

Airbags are nicer on the road and spot on when towing. If you do heavy off road use then I'd leave the coils in. As said though if you don't like then you can go back to coils and if you get the bags cheep enough, probly won't loose much money. Thumbs up for the compressor working after that long:)
