Hi
I'm on the verge of purchasing a Freelander 2, but have been almost put off by things I've read, including problems with the diff, etc. Also I have my own aversion to anything diesel, so I've considered buying the 3.2 i6 HSE, but I need some real world honest opinions, so does anyone out there own one of these, if so can you give me your thoughts on it, good and bad, would you buy another?
Just to add, I've had diesels in the past, and I hate them with a passion for multiple reasons, so I will not consider having another.
Cheers
Rob

Modern diesel engines are really very good. Don't knock them until you tried them.
The SI6 used in the FL2 is a decent enough power unit of Ford/ Volvo origin. It's a bit of a plodder as it has a massive 98 mm stroke!
It makes decent enough power due to its capacity but it's way down on torque compared to the turbo diesel FL2. The SI6 is only available with auto transmission, which really effects it's economy. It's also in the highest tax bracket so expect to be fleeced by the DVLA every 12 months.
