There is a guy over here (In Athlone), with a Synchmate who had a similar problem on his '98 diesel p38. He changed the engine ecu and it started ok. Had a load of electrical gremlins appear when he got it started....back doors superlocked, no lights on r.h. side of car, no horn etc.
Found a brown & yellow wire to the red multiplug on the engine bay fusebox had fried. When the fusebox was removed, the links connecting the upper and lower boards were all but corroded away and a few broken.
Have you mailed [email protected] ?

hi irishrover, yes pm bbs guy never got back to me,i will check the fuse box when i manage to get the fooker opened,is there any where there is a wiring diagram that shows you the diagnostics to the ecu etc, cheers pat.

Thanks Pat
I try my best, but given i have to try and squeeze about 35 hours work into each 24 hour day, it can take a day or so to respond.

The schematic for all wiring to the OBDII connector for a P38 is commonly availiable on Rave disks which many have access to.

As stated by PM, if you think there is a problem with your unit i will happily send you another ;-)

You can't get fairer treatment than that !!!

Personally, I would take Colin up on his offer as that would eliminate the Synchmate.
I seem to remember that some time ago I posted all of the OBD socket pinouts in response to your requset for help.
The wiring diagrams on RAVE have all the info.

No worries Pat
I am with you on the " its become a personal challenge" front.
hell i like a challenge myself you know

But be sure to know i will be there for you to pick up the towel if it comes to that.

What kind of mutant P38 you running there anyway :hysterically_laughi

Hiya Pat (paddocks1967)

Guess what !!!
The chap i asked you to send your EAS Kicker lite finally got to test it today and he tells me it works like a charm. In fact he does not really want to send it back to me but is now interested to resell them at shows and stuff ;-)

So i am guessing that you might have trouble with the replacement we sent you but at least now we know for sure that you must have a problem with your EAS system.
