On the flip side, I fixed the stereo display.

Usual P38 stereo display fault, it was dead when I got it and have never bothered to get it fixed as I did not like the prices they change for the new display.

I had an old stereo I found from a 1996 Nissan. The head unit and CD changer are very very similar, seems to share many of the same components from Clarion. So I ripped the front panel off of the old Nissan one and plugged it into the LR head unit. Powered up and it says CODE IN. Great stuff. Problem is the buttons did not line up.

So I took a gamble after comparing the display part numbers (which is 331-0157), then unsoldered both from each of the printed circuit boards. Swapped the good one onto the LR board and re-soldered.

It worked. I now have a working display.

:)

On the down side I have a CDAC ER 2 and 3 on the changer, but maybe I can make 1 good one from the 2......

Did you ever find out what CDAC ER 2 means @JamesBB ?

It's doing that on mine. Worked fine before it was laid up for engine treatment Still ejects the CD cartridge.

When you put it in, it doesn't do that thing where it loads each CD one at a time to see what slots are full though....
