It's probably been covered on this forum and elsewhere ad infinitum, but was unable to find much on this subject before I embarked on a new set of tyres for my 1988 90. Long story short - I bought 5 new tubeless tyres for what I was unaware were tubed wheels. After poor tyre sealing on the wheels, an abortive set of new tubes and LR specialist advice not to mix tubeless tyres with tubes and old wheels, I now have a brand new set of LR tubeless steel wheels, painted myself and now bearing the new tubeless tyres. Expensive, but lesson learnt - don't put tubeless tyres on old wheels intended for inner tubes. The tyres won't seal effectively on the old wheels and moulding ridges inside the new tyres will wreak havoc with inner tubes.

Unless you have tyres that are tubeless that’s the manufacturer has said can be used with tubes - like the Michelin XZL - these are tubeless tyres but can be fitted to tubes rims with tubes :)
