Hi everyone, Hubby has been on this site before - we have a 01 freelander TD 2.0 for above 2 years and yes we have had most of the faults reported on this site. every 6 months it ends up on a back of a tow truck with the driver just saying it is a landrover what to you expect. the kids and I are use to it now. But today it was me i have gone and put £1.96 of unleaded fuel in. the garage told me as I had a quarter of diesel in I should be ok to top it up with diesel and this should be ok. I know my freelander is this going to work or 6 months down the road am i going to need a new engine.

have not told hubby yet so hoping for some good news

can anyone help please

Thank you everyone.

got another 3 months happy motoring for its breaks down again and the younger one gets to ride in the truck back to the garage. why why i keep the freelander i dont know except its grown on me

If you do put petrol in, and it's not TOO much, leave it there but add to the FUEL TANK a litre of cheap engine oil for every 4 or 5 litres of petrol you put in. Then put in as much diesel as you can afford.

Petrol is OK as a FUEL in a diesel engine, but it has NIL lubrication properties. All the moving parts including IN THE INJECTORS depend on the oily diesel to lubricate them.
Adding engine oil to the petrol restores enough LUBE ability to keep the engine from harm. The engine oil in the fuel burns perfectly just as if it was diesel.

But best not try it too often!

I did it to my TD5 Disco last year. SEVENTY litres of unleaded ... Oh Dear ... but it survived.
