Series 3 old canvas top

Bit of a daft question as i probably already know the answer..
Old canvas that's started to rot in the top, is it scrap or do folks sew new panels in them?

I guess you could sew panels in, but.......
I can let you have one that is entire...but leaks like a sieve

Just buy another,

But I would say , do not use fabriseal on it.

It's one from my dad's 'collection', he's got a non leaky one fitted

The same has happened to mine and I plan on buying a new one in the spring (it should last the winter). I am planning on waterproofing it the old fashioned way using a recipe I found on here (link) that is basically a wax that you melt in similar to waterproofing an old Barbour. Having done some research into it a lot of old fashioned wax recipes similar to this, especially the American/Canadian ones include pine tar in the recipe, I am still trying to work out what this adds and if it is worth it. But that is my plan to see if it last any longer than the modern treatments.

I am not treating this one. I looked at the old fashioned treatments and decided it was not worth the hassle. They have been discussed on here many times.

My previous one was untreated and lasted about the same length of time as this one which has been. If I use the old treatment on the next one if it lasts the same again I will know none of it makes a difference and not to bother!

But having regularly treated my wax jackets which are worn hard and a couple of which are from the 80's i cannot see how treating it can be detrimental.
