ive read all the info you have all put on here about what oil should be used.I have a 4.6 p38 the book says i need 10w/40 but evrywhere i go they only do semi synthetic is this ok to use or not:confused:.If not could you help me and tell me were you lot get your oil from any help appreciated thanks:D

semi synthetic suffers less ashing and black death compared to straight oil.
You don't need to buy a market leader any decent brand from a motor factors should be fine

your local car parts dealer should stock the oil you need.not halfrauds cos they are tooooo expensive.;)

so is semi synthetic ok to use in my engine as ive just done the head gaskrts and plan on oil changes evry 4-5000 miles and dont want to do any harm to it

as long as you stick to the recommended grade you will be fine with a good quality detergent semi synth.
What kills high mileage engines is oil flushes and fully synthetic oils-scrubs carbon that was sealing off.

You can tell a good quality oil in an engine easily, **** make super market oil goes black first motorway run.
Decent oil goes golden brown over several thousand miles:D

OpieOils.com is the cheapest and they have special offers too.

I just got two cans of castrol magantec 10w40 and two litres free, so 10 litres for £46

That oil is the best oil for these engines as far as I can tell!:mil80:
