Hi all.

My DSE is constantly dripping oil from the engine breather. I know that some oil is OK but I'm not sure on how much oil that is. Also, my engine seems to be leaking from several places (it's a landy afterall :D) which I think it could be caused by a clogged oil separator, leading to higher pressure than expected.
So, for the 10.000€ question (that would be 8.298£): I can't find any information on how or when to service the oil separator/wire mesh thingy in the camshaft cover. Does it need servicing or am I just imagining a job?

Thanks :)

It depends. Is you car a high miler? If so you maybe getting combustion blow by causing excess pressure in crank case. You will not do any harm removing cam cover and washing out seperator.

This engine is supposed to have 180.000km on it (110k miles), so I'm guessing it's starting to qualify as a high miler? :)
I just got the quote for a original rocker cover gasket and it put me a little of (don't like to spend money unless absolutely sure it will do some good). If I find a cheaper OEM alternative, I may look into this, if it's as simple as unbolting the cover and then wash out the mesh thing.

Thanks for you help wammers :)

Gasket £9.75 from Famous Four Landrover. There are two though make sure you get the right one. But as they are rubber moldings there should not be a problem using the old one with a little silicone anyway.

Well, I have no idea on how to match the engine number on Famous Four to the one on my block, since I'm missing 2 digits
Searching around the forum, it seems that others have stumbled upon this before, but I found no clear answer.

Saturday I'll be taking the exhaust manifold out and replacing studs, nuts, washers and gaskets. If I get around to doing the rocker cover, I may try going with the old gasket plus some silicone way :) I'm not driving the RR right now, so if worst comes to worst, I'll have one week to find the correct gasket :bounce:
