hi all, in the pat ive owned a couple of series 2as but im now looking for an old range rover. ive looked at a couple and found one i quite like problem is the oil pressure gauge only showed about 20 when warm! as the gauge appeared to go up to 80 i guess thats a little low? any advice welcome. by the way it was a 1984 3.5 v8 c heers matt

Hi, if the temperature is even I wouldn’t worry, take the oil filler cap off and look down inside the rocker box, if there is a lot of black build up in there, by a lot if you can dig it out with your finger, walk away. If not to bad just needs a good flush through.

just spoken to the owner and he tells me the engine is 30psi cold 10psi hot at tickover... what do you think

Thats ok, i wouldn't worry about it, change the oil for 20/50 and that'll give it a bit more.

Oil pressure on the old 3.5 was never very good, but these rely on volume more than pressure anyway.

Sounds average for rangy this age, put slightly thicker oil in her. Or buy some oil additive one I can recommend is Ametech, one can per litre of engine power, top product, have used this additive on many rangys it works
