Help~ New Oil Pump required or a simpler fix ?? 2000 4.0 v8 with 75,000 miles - Have noticed more often in recent months that the 'Red' Engine Oil Warning/Pressure light slow to go out on dash display.... sometimes takes quite a few minutes - especially if RR has been parked-up for few days. Also, can hear a lite knocking sound from block until the light goes off. Engine Oil (10/40) and filter ( Fram) replaced couple of hundred miles ago. Have slight oil leak at front crank oil- seal also.

If the oil pressure lamp takes minutes to go out with a knock, which will be a bigend. You have a serious problem. Don't run it and take a look at the oil pump PDQ. You may also need at least new shells.

I started RR couple of days later to move it onto ramp and the oil light went out within seconds - and no rattles bearing noise either. Will let ya know outcome as taking the sump-pan and oil-pump off today .....now that I've found time to look at it.

FAULT FOUND:As per the video I uploaded - Outer oil pump gear was cracked in several places... read article posted on another site by a UK Landy Indie garage - they've seen this problem on several 2000/2001 v8 RR's in recent months ! Anyhow, new pump fitted and alls well again !
