oil pressure gauge

Hi, I have fitted a oil pressure gauge to my 90 and its not working properly so just asking if this sounds right for the wiring + on the gauge from live feed through the ignition, S on the gauge from the sensor on the T piece for the oil pressure switch and - on the gauge to earth. My problem is that as soon as the earth is fitted the gauge goes straight to the top/max oil pressure any ideas would be welcome.
by the way I have tried another gauge and sender incase they were faulty, but they were the same make.

+1 with Flossie.
I've just fitted an oils pressure gauge and had the same problem. It varies, depending on the sender, but mine was 'insulated return'. Which meant it did not get earthed via the screw thread in to the oil filter housing. You have to run an earth from the other terminal on the sender.

Thanks guys, although I did earth the sender this was not a sound earth, so new earth and problem solved.

Pleased it's sorted, but I'll have to transfer your thanks to me on to @Kwakerman who is the mutts when it comes to electrical issues. He solved the same issue for me
