Is it possible to fit an oil pressure gauge onto my 1990 2.5 NA 110 Fender? If so, how do I go about fitting one?

I don't even have an oil warning light switch, otherwise I could have teed off from there!! :(:(

Hey Flat, I was looking in my Landy earlier. Like yours, it's an ex-military. I assume they all have the same centre console light controls? The 'box' is made up of three sections which are screwed together. I think the side that is angled towards the driver would make an ideal location for one or possibly even two 51mm gauges which should have a great viewing angle for the driver.

I have a couple in the middle (where normal Landies have cig lighter etc) but they are difficult to read when driving. Would be ok for non critical stuff like fuel.

Got the oil light switch today, and can't find where it is supposed to go!

I did find the oil temperature gauge sender, but it's the wrong thread!

Anyone got any ideas?

Dunno I will go and look on mine later see where the oil light switch is.

Could you not run the temp guage and pressure light off the same hole using a T piece? And re-cut the thread to whatever you want?

I know its not land rover, but I used to buy stuff like that off demon tweeks when I used to track old vw's

There is no oil temperature gauge fitted.

I had thought about fitting a tee piece or an adapter, but the thread difference put me off!

On the bulkhead side of the filter there is a screw which could be a blanking screw, but I didn't remove that as a pressure relief valve might be underneath it, and I don't fancy trying to find the ball and spring in amongst all the gravel! :D

ok, i just have a low oil pressure warning light on the dash, no gauge or anything. It shares an earth with the brake fluid warning light

The oil pressure light has a brown and white cable, and its fitted as thus to the oil filter housing

no worries, let me know if you need photos of any other parts, although i have family round for a bbq today so might not be till tonight/tomorrow

BTW i have set my idling speed and my accelerator cable correctly and thats made a nice difference, it was idling to high before.

Going to do the fuel timing in the week

Ed

Pleased to hear that things are working out OK. It just takes a bit of patience! :D

Uploaded 3 pics to show the end of the filter body, if that's any help.

whats below that sticky out thing? I dont have that on mine, its just a blanking plate and the oil pressure switch is below it.

Could that bit be a thermostat for the oil cooler? I dont have an oil cooler, so maybe why mine is blanked off.

Ed

I don't have an oil cooler on mine either, so it could be simply blanked off!

Suppose that the next thing is to get down, get dirty and upset my wife ... again, and see what is hidden below the plate!

It will have to wait a while as I have to do the family thing in about an hour!

Will keep you posted.

Enjoy your BBQ!

cool, yeah whip it off, put a bucket below and just let it all fall in there if it explodes. If it is a thermostat where an oil cooler used to be fitted, i would bin it and blank it off and fit the switch below it.

Or you could make a blanking plate and tap a thread in the middle for the switch/t piece - this would only work if this thing on your housing opens onto an oil channel.

Have a good weekend :)

Sea dog I am just over the river too you in Jarrow, Had a Sherpa 15J in till recently and now 200DI fitted but set up is the same as 2.5 as far as I can tell.View attachment 48708.

Doug

this is useful, that bit sticking out is for a oil coller bulb thermostat. If you havent got an oil cooler i would whip that off, take the thermostat out and see if you can adapt it to take a threaded sender........

Thanks guys.

I'll have a good look at it either tomorrow or Monday.

Seems as though I've been looking in the wrong place as the only bit I could find was the oil temperature sender, located on the side closest to the injector pump!
