Hi new to the site
Hoping someone can help
I have a freelander 1.8 petrol with the lovely k series engine
Last year my head gasket blew and I had it replaced
Today I found 3 of 4 spark plug wells had oil in them
Been told it could be the cam seal
How easy is this to replace and
I have cleaned up for now is it safe to drive?
Many thanks
Gareth

Hi and welcome.
It's not the cam seals causing the oil build up. It is the cam ladder seal against the head. This is normally caused by the use of the incorrect sealer for the cam ladder to head joint.
Hopefully silicone wasn't used as that causes cam bearing failure in addition to leaking.

Hi thank you Nodge68
How would I identify the cam ladder seal and would it be a easy fix or get a mechanic to have a look?

Is this the seal that is leaking

That's the cam cover gasket. Those don't normally leak, unless the cover bolts are over tightened or loose. The cam ladder seal isn't a gasket as such. It's a chemical gasket sealant that is used and is very specific to the application.

Oh right sounds a bit to technical for me
I think I'll be better off getting someone to look at it
Would this issue also cause my coolant to run out aswell?

No it won't affect the coolant. If you are loosing, then it's likely that the head gasket repair wasn't done correctly, which your oil leak tends to suggest.
