Oil Leak!

I just purchased my first freelander a 2002 with a 1.8 K series.

While looking at the engine I have noticed oil leaking from the end of the front cam shaft (exhaust) on the battery side also the small cover plate is missing. Would this suggest the camshaft oil seal has gone?

How easy are they to change?

oil is leaking from right hand side of the cam shaft where a small plate should be
