2000 discovery Td5
Just been to order a service kit a d when I asked for a oil filter they told me there is 2 different types. One for £8 and the other for £20. I gave him the reg and it said on the cheap one to use the other one and it's a oil car bypass filter. I didn't know what it ment or which to get until I get some advice from the experts (that you guys)

Any ideas

Theres an ordinary filter and a centrifugal filter on a TD5. I presume you change both on a service. Most of the specialist suppliers do a service kit with both in. I think all TD5 are the same but I am new to TD5's

the normal oil filter (not the centrifugal filter) can have a bypass fitted this is fitted so if the oil filter becomes blocked oil can still get around using the bypass fitted in the oil filter but as the td5 is fitted with the centrifugal filter i doubt very much you will need the one with a bypass filter on it.
hope this helps

really!

The prices you have been quoted sound quite high I paid less than £20 for the whole service kit air, fuel and both oil filters last year. I would have a look on line and order from there.
