While stripping my old engine out ready for 200tdi I discovered my oil cooler was knackered. Im hoping that theres one coming with the engine Ive bought but also preparing for the worst...

Theres a split in the large pipe running from the lower hose connection about an inch long. Wasn't leaking much at all before but removal of the pipe opened it up a bit. If I reshape it nicely would soldering it closed be enough to hold the pressure do you think or am I looking at replacing it?

I've had a look and craddocks have one at £200, so new is a little out of the question atm. Would it be seriously detrimental to just bypass the cooler at least short term? Easy enough to cobble a pipe together to just loop round...

Does anyone happen to have a used one for sale? ;)

ETA:
Just seen a 200tdi radiator on ebay with the oil cooler as part of it. Am I being a muppet and thats standard or is it a modified part?
