hello

my 98 freelander diesel has a oil leak and seems to be coming from the oil cooler where the thermostat is located, i have spoken to a landrover dealer who said its a big o ring seal on the thermostat side of the cooler

has any one seen or heard of this??? i would assume i would be leaking water to???

cheers dean

Had a similar problem on the oil cooler of my 1998 freelander job was time consuming but inexpensive had to strip the oil cooler down and change both of the O rings . The price of the 2 O rings from Bear mach in cardiff £1. 72 including vat. the bad news was the oil cooler was quite corroded on the inside and will need to replaced sooner rather than later and the cost of a new oil cooler is £300 from a 4x4 specialist ( or £500 from main stealer). But at least for now there is no more pool of oil under me freelander when its parked overnight.
