OIL CHANGE series 3 GEARBOX PUKES METAL IDENTIFY......

hi folks just done a oil change on my S3 gearbox and this came out see pics would anyone know what it is?
it has broken in the middle as the break on both match. i think it has come out of the transfer box with more oil than should have been in there so oil seal needed as well. cheers

It's a 3rd/4th synchro clip. Not a disaster as such

I only know because I found one years ago. It carried on working happily with 2......assuming it's the first to drop out

Best deal with it as soon as possible. Its only a matter of time before the synchro coggles and jams. Hence no third or fourth gear. I once drove from Dundee to Glasgow in a light weigh in second gear overdrive towing a caravan. Broken synchro clutch spring.I ve heard it said that they can be replaced from the top without dismantling the gear box. But I never managed it. Ive had to do it 3 times over the years in series boxes.
