This year what with the virus and confinement etc I have done about 500 miles in Buttercup since her last oil change in January of this year.
Does the team think (careful careful) I should change the oil? Or will it be alright for another few thousand miles, assuming I get to drive it in 2021??

The oil companies say you must!!!!!!!!
I'm not sure I'd bother

It'll be alright for a while longer, just try to avoid starting the engine and leaving it ticking over.

Thanks for the replies guys. Think I might as well just change it for the cost. Shant bother with the filter though, it's a total arse to remove it without getting oil all over the place, it's mounted half way up the engine with the thread on the bottom FFS. Have to use masses of paper roll to catch the spill.

condensation will form in crank case the water mixing with the oil normal driving evaporates it but if your not using it much would be wise to change it

this is true but used oil and water become acidic, that's why they used to say 6k or 6 months for oil change on my mkii

At one time when you didnt know what to do with all the free plastic bags you got when shopping you could use one round the oil filter to catch the oil spill in but now you have to pay for them not so many about when you want one, just sayin like.

Wait till you see if you can drive it next year...and if you can give it a good long drive get it hot and then think about changing...me wouldnt bother changing but I dont listen to armchair mechanics who abound on forums just what we do down here at the garage...

How often does Dunsfold/Landrover Heritage Museums change the oil in their vehicles?...

I prefer to change my oil 3 times a year and only average around 4000miles. Have always done that. Sooner play to the safe side
