oi pikey..

right been searching this place and other's for info on veggie oil useage.

i know its been covered a millionbillion time's and feel a **** having to make a fred but..

i is all confused about it..

do i want a heater and use my tank thats fitted with a derv/veg mix or..

do i want to purchase myself a two tank system..

or do i even require a heater if using a mix of 70% veggie to 30% derv oil??

and doe's it make me disco smell like a mobile chip van???

oh btw its a 200tdi with 198.000+ mile's ont clock so she's not the youngest filiy in the paddock..

/me sit's back and wait's to get both the **** took and the answer's required(not nessacerly in that order :D)

Right at 70/30 you'll be alright in the summer but for the winter I wouldn't go below 50/50. If your gonna go down the heater route then get a small tank to start/finish with and fill it with diesel and fill the main tank with veg-oil. Yes it'll smell like a chippy but you'll be saving so much dosh you won't give a ****.

Mine had done 199k and happily ran on a mix of 2ltrs of veg oil 1 ltr of diesel.

If ye do decde tae do it spud, ffs keep an eye on yer fuel filter, change it after a couple or three hundred miles or ye'llend up with a mess like this...

thats the veg oil striping all the crap outta the line's right buster ??

i take it that i do this 200-300 mile's after first useage not every 200-300 mile's??

i do a service every six month's (oil fuel air filter's..plus new decent oil) as it is at mo, will this still be fine?

Aye and yer tank ah think

Think so, only changed mines once (which reminds me...)

Aye, just carry on as normal:D

prob worth changing engine oil a little more freq esp with an older engine cause unburnt veg oil seeping past yer rings (no inuendo pls!) contaminates it.

Adding kerosine lowers the waxing temp for those not too worried about plods opinion, 70/30 veg to kerosine gives you to about -10'C depending on the oil

has anyone tried bunging in a gallon of petrol in to a tank full to help ease cold starting?

i put a few litres in mine the other day in anticipation of a heavy frost, can't say that it started any better as mine allways starts instantly (with no heat) but it did appear to run slightly less lumpy for the first few minutes before it warmed slightly and ran fine as normal - and that's on almost 100% veg

My 2.5td goes like this. Fine on 70/30 mix of veg/diesel but now running 50/50 just in case of any starting issues. Slightly rough tickover on frosty mornings. Pulls slightly better up hills and goes 2 or 3 miles further on a gallon than it does on 100% diesel. I've changed the fuel filter twice since I started using veg oil and neither time was there any crap in it whatsoever. Surely any veg oil seeping past your rings won't do any more harm than diesel would?? I don't really care if it ****s up my pump or whatever cos in a year I'll have saved the cost of a tdi to bung in it:)
