offroading on salisbury plain last night i was in me 90 and my mate was in his disco..ended up at killer hill(thats what we call it) couple of trips up and down it all seemed ok

drove off looked in me mirror and me mate had pulled over and was looking under the disco so i turned back

fookinell his axle was twisted as a fart

got underneath and the passenger side trailing arm bracket had completely snapped of the axle

**** what do we do it was just starting to get dark
looked in the back of me 90 and found a large ratchet strap so we ratcheted the axle straight again and left strap in place and the tied some additional rope to the rear of the axle to keep it all tight, managed to get home 5 miles like that.

now a local garage have two mechanics off different opinions
one says nope cant weld it your better of with a new axle
other one says if its welded properly it will be stronger

so wot do we do??? any thoughts??

paddocks sell the repair brackets for this exact situation. whoever says it cant be welded is talking out of his arse mate!
Done one myself no problems just make sure the welding is spot on though.
