OH DEAR!!!

Last night, after discovering the wet stuff leaking significantly from the heater matrix in my P38, I went and did it...
........... I bought a TD4-powered 02 REG Freelander for £550.
Please forgive AND pray for me one and all...
I still have my P38 - always shall until I pop my clogs - but, after failing the MOT last month, I started to bypass the heater matrix, but almost put my back out leaning forward for too long.
Going to SORN it until the Spring. I nearly said until the weather improves...but Spring arriving next year CAN be counted on

Hardly ANY rust...just the odd bit that I spotted when I viewed by powerful torch in the dark last night. So far, there's only very long brake pedal travel, although it does stop without drama.
One rear passenger window is u/s at main swith pack, so I'll check out the rear switch tomorrow. As I'm "Billy-no-mates" most of the time it doesn't phase me. I need to sell my little Citroën C2 now. It's a great little car, but my back can't cope with ANY seat position.

Best head over to the FL section & do all the usual checks on VCU, matching tyres, etc. otherwise the cost will go up. At least you bought a TD4 and not the crappy rover 4-pot.

My wife & son both have facelift TD4 Auto FL1 each, which in reality only need basic regular servicing (apart from HP Pump leak on wife's, Auto Reverse & Turbo failure on son's), which are now all sorted.

Don’t forget to mention the brand of hairdryer and curlers, have heard good brands can help.

Thanks for the advice...already put several posts on the "Dark side"!
I coulda/shoulda/would checked out about propshafts BEFORE I bought the FL1. I went out AFTER reading about them and kicked myself, as it's in 2WD mode

Haha. Wouldn't have been necessary if I could've fixed my P38 4.6 Thor...
At the minute, the TD4's fulfilling a need. I have a Citroën C2 that's totally reliable, BUT my L4/L5/S1 spinal problems mean I just can't sit comfortably in it

I must admit i quite like the fl2 but with the ulez coming in one is out of the question.

now the L5/4 and S1 sound so familiar, now I wonder why, oh yes some nut job decided to put some pins/ screws in my back, lol

what u need is a nice electric D3 seat as must confess never had a back ache after

as a side note when I had my TD4 had to replace the heater matrix , blimey what a job that was as the entire dash needs to come out

sadly still can’t upload pictures , hopefully that gets sorted out very soon

indeed, with the ulez its now narrowing down choices , maybe many will decide to get a thumping big petrol V8

The trouble is i like the p38 its cheap motoring, i have had it 15 years with not much trouble but even the petrol one are not ulez so it would have to be a case of spent a shedload and get something with more complicated stuff to go wrong and for the mileage mine does it is not worth the outlay i will just not take it in, which will be hard as i am half a mile outside it

Upon reading you've changed profession to hairdresser this was my first thing I wanted to ask, but it seems we know the answer. Lots claim it is to help fuel economy, but it is only ever done by those running one on a shoe string as a new VCU costs more than the car.

Indeed such a crying shame ,suppose one very small consultation of the grace period till 2027 , know it will be upsetting for 1,000’s of road users who are being forced to change there’s

Hopefully by 2027 I’ll be in the position to move down to the south west in Dorset and by doing so allowing me to then decide for myself when to change my D3 and not being forced to do so

Plus just think of all the extra deliveries and carbon footprint where parts being delivered due to the increased complexity of the newer motors , wonder if motorbikes will become more popular
