Occasional White Smoke on idle

Afternoon,

I have a 1996 defender 90 300tdi. It has started giving off large amounts of thick white smoke out of the exhaust occasionally when idling at junctions or changing gears. It is also dropping a lot of oil on the floor but not loosing any coolant, running hot or loosing power. Is this something to do with the fuel injectors?

Ive never checked the timing - bought the car just under a year ago.

Ummm...no. I must add that this issue has only started occurring since I revved the engine quite hard whilst trying to out accelerate a BMW.

And jumped a tooth on the timing belt?

Oh and you drive a tratter that could barely out accelerate a motability scooter

That sounds all a bit complicated for me. I shall try and find a garage that is open.

It feels positively super charged compared to the 2.5N/A 110.

So does my wheelbarrow

Best get ti checked asap, 300 used to suffer from timing belt/pulley issues, where the pulleys ran out of line causing the belt to wear away on the front timing case cover, sound scary but not a bad job to do.

You can check the timig easily by just removing the little round cover held on with three screws, take a look on youtube.

Turns out it is the turbo
