Hi guys m again!:(

Recently bought an OBD2 lead after some advice from a few guys, just I am having problems with connecting. I got the ELM327 unit V1.2a. It's just that evry time I connect it goes through restting the interface etc but when it comes to "Detecting OBD protocol) it fails and says it check your vehicle connection???, just wondered if anyone has had the same problem?, especially with this particular model (ELM 327).
My Rangee is a 1998 DSE.

Cheers Paul:confused:

Apart from the EAS software which is readily available on free download, I am unaware of any software/servers which can access the systems on the P38 other than that provided by Test Book, Autologic or Rovacom (Blackbox Solutions)

We went through this a while back, I said at the time that I didn't think that there was any generic OBD2 compatable interface software in the P38 ECU's but a couple of people then mentioned that they'd managed to make it all work on their P38's.

Anyway, this was the topic:

You may want to PM the people who have made it work and see what they did. If could report back on your progress it might be useful to all of us as access to the P38 fault codes with a £20 OBD2 lead and some Freeware would be really useful !

BTW, ELM327 is the chip number of the IC that does the OBD to Rs232 conversion, it does not identify any specific system, it's the software that comes with it that really matters.

Good Luck, Brian

It definately doesn't work on 98 diesel p38's I can absolutely assure you!!!!!!.
It may possibly work on petrols although I doubt it
