Heard on the radio today and this is on the net. Beware!!

Land Rover Defender owners are being warned to keep their vehicles secure after a spate of thefts in the Ashford area.
More than ten thefts of the older style 4x4s have been reported in recent weeks.
Police have warned that vehicles could be being stolen to commit further crime like removing cable or metal or being dismantled and the parts sold. They could also be being exported.
Land Rover owners are urged to park in secure areas and if parking on a street, make sure the vehicle is under a street or security light.
They are also being told to leave vehicles not used regularly out of sight or under cover. But if this is not possible police say ensure that the vehicle is blocked in and difficult to move.
Police are also recommending owners to invest in security devices specifically aimed at the older vehicles.
PC Michael Baksh of the Ashford police neighbourhood team said: “These Land Rovers are known as strong vehicles that go on for ever and are very popular. Unfortunately due to this they are becoming the targets of thieves and we are urging owners to do what they can to make them as secure as possible and difficult to steal.”

Unreal,
I bet the old bill know whos doing it, but they cant do anything unless they catch em in the act, yeah right as if thats likely to happen any time soon

the theives bl**dy well need :fighting:

I better start putting that steering lock on

I actually had the police knock on my door last night telling me the same info as they noticed my 90. Then they noticed it had no steering arms or wheels...

None the less though Ive been getting my dad to park his Range Rover in front of it so it cant be moved.

fooking pikys. I am not far from that are, told ppl I know to keep an eye on theirs. Not much we can do really. Have to cut their hands of like they used to back in the day. That'll stop them from stealing cars the bastards.
