Hi all i thought id buy a rangerover (unsure why tbh just thought be ok for a run around and winter use..
Anyway its a grey 1996 p reg rangerover .very nice condition no dints .nice interior which i bought for 500 .which i didnt think was bad seen as its got brand new grabber tyres.new airbag and pump fitted along with other bits and bobs ( too mutch to list tbh..
Ive run it for about a month and it started to overheat .so removed clyinder heads to find the common cracked liners .
So removed and fitted another .not a bad job tbh ..anyway .i used everything from the oringal engine .fitted it and has been starting running fine (4.0v8 petrol)
Past few days its gone from running to bad starting and rough idiol and cutting out
So plugged fault reader in to find bank b lamda fault and maf (this was new) singal out of range )(think its because it backfired throwing air the wrong direction)
So replaced both and cleared codes.
Started it up .still same ...ie it starts revs fine above 2000rpm but soon as it drops down to 1000rpm just splutters and cuts out and cranks for a while till it restarts .
As theres no faults .
I then replaced.
Plugs.ht leads.vacume pipe .(vacume check with new gaskets.)
Temp sensor.fuel sensor)
Fuel pressure check on prime up 37psi
New maf .ivac valve.throttle poitensionmetre.intake temp sensor and serviced engine with no change.comptession check shows 10.5 x8 clyinders no knocks rattles
Then removed ecu to check for dry joints ( all good) only yhing ive not vhanged is coilpack and both cam.crank sensors because once above 2000pulls great no missing or backfireing .and noticed its started holding in gear with the autogearbox as well .anyone.. have some ideas as im running out off ideas here..i can post a video if needed
