You what happens when you don’t use something enough, bits start misbehaving?

N/S Rear Hub/Disc overheating and humming at speed, thought it was EPB not releasing but went for sticking caliper first.
Stripped out the brakes, inside pad jammed against disc so replaced the sliders as they were rusted, cleaned out the crap stuck behind the disc and mud shield and all was well…..except….

Hub wouldn’t rotate more than 45degrees either way, crunching noise from inside- so I can’t get the adjuster hole to line up with the little wheel inside to free off the shoes to get the disc off - oh Pooh….refitted wheel, went for a spin round the block and it’s still overheating but pads are now free.

It then rained enough for Noah to stop by on his Ark so it’s now sitting on the drive waiting for a complete strip down - so I’ll put new discs, shoes & pads on all round while it’s in bits.

Tax & MOT this Month as well - when it rains it pours :)

Gearbox needs to be in neutral if you want to spin one wheel with the other 3 on the ground. Chock the other wheels well! You don't want it walking off

It’s all looking a bit tired, Caliper doesn’t retract, keeps jamming the inside pad on, the disc face is scored and lipped, mud shield is getting rather flimsy. Thinking it’s all about to be replaced…..

Rear backplates an arse to replace properly, get a grinder with slitting disc and trim off the thin tinware leaving the thicker steelwork alone that the shoes mount to

Britpart calipers just fine, cheap as well

Check for rust on the brake hose x4 crimps x8

Note brake fluid is dot 4 but must be class 6

I fitted genuine shoes, but this was 6 yrs ago so now would check reviews on britpart as genuine to bloody dear!
